Because the sewage organic matter density is very high at the A-level stage, microorganisms operate under anoxic conditions to decompose organic nitrogen into NH3-N. This process reduces the organic load for the subsequent O-level oxygen pond, completing denitrification and removing eutrophication pollution.

In the O-level stage, the reduced organic matter density allows for further oxygenolysis and smooth nitrification. The good oxygen microorganisms decompose organic matter into CO2 and H2O, while nitrifying bacteria transform NH3-N into NO2-N and NO3-N, ensuring complete denitrogenation pollution control.
